MSc Program

 

Program of the MSc courses at GIBMTE

The MSc at the Graduate Institute of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering (GIBMTE) is a 2 year program (30 credits). Most teaching credits, comprising mandatory credits (24 credits) and elective credits (6 credits) can be obtained during the first year (two semesters) forming a valuable study portfolio based on students interest in the field of Biomedical Material and Tissue Engineering and thesis project. Mandatory credits are focusing on seminars by external specialists with expertise in academic field and industry, research seminars presented by students, and Thesis/publication writing.

MSc Thesis project:

The thesis project (6 credits) is carried out during the two years of the MSc.By the end of October of the second year of MSc, the student must handle a Master thesis proposal to the Institute secretariat.

Format of the Master thesis proposal

By the end of January of the second year, an oral MSc thesis proposal must be presented in front of a committee typically comprised of 5 members (Advisor, co-advisor, and three committee members). In June or July of the second year, the Master thesis document should be prepared and an oral MSc thesis defense must be presented in front of a committee typically comprised of 5 members (Advisor, co-advisor, and three committee members). The final MSc thesis document must be handled to the GIBMTE secretariat and Academic Affairs of TMU by end of July of the second year. It is highly recommended that the Msc thesis be written in English. At minima, an extended structured abstract of 350-500 words in English must be provided.
